The Blumenthal Uniform Company began as a family-based business in Seattle and has always believed in growth through providing quality and service.

It’s a philosophy that’s stood them in good stead through three generations since the inception of their company in 1948. They now have five locations throughout the Northwest and California. 
As the need for specialized uniforms expanded, the Blumenthals could no longer just sell “off the rack.” They also realized that to remain competitive, they needed design software that would both minimize waste and speed their products to market. The Blumenthals chose OptiTex technology to meet these requirements. 

“We needed to seriously enhance our ability to create made-to-measure law enforcement apparel,” states Fred Shaw, Director of Manufacturing for Blumenthal. “I already knew about OptiTex from earlier in my career, so I purchased their PDS with grade, Nest++ and Modulate software.” Additionally, the OptiTex software pairs well with a variety of cutting machines. In conjunction with OptiTex software, Blumenthal’s chose an Eastman M9000 cutter.
The Nest++ proved to be the feature that Shaw leverages the most. With the most advanced algorithms on the market, Nest++ provides the most thorough material efficiency available and reduces overall time and labor.

The combination of OptiTex software with an efficient cutting machine is key to quickly turn custom orders at Blumenthal’s.   “Since we’ve begun using OptiTex technology, we’ve actually been able to reduce our time to market by four weeks and increase fabric utilization. Since providing timely and reliable service is a key element of the Blumenthal mission statement, this means a great deal to us. OptiTex’s tech support team has been very responsive to us, so we’re enthusiastic OptiTex proponents,” concludes Shaw.
