Importing In OptiTex
A detailed list of each and every import option.
Rules For Importing
- Select File/Data Exchange/Import from CAD/CAM files.
- Always select AAMA as your File Format even if the file has DXF Extension. (you should NOT see wacky drills all over the piece, this indicates you have imported as DXF file. Import again as AAMA.)
- Select Browse and change file Type to .dxf; select OK. (This will become your default setting!)
- Click OK.
Troubleshoot
- If this does not work: File size is too big – Being the import again, but select CM or MM. reason: file is DXF and file was exported in Metric.
- If this does not work: No pieces are imported – Begin the import again, but select dxf instead of aama. reason: file was exported as dxf but given aama extension or aama file but given dxf extention.
- If this does not work: No pieces were imported – Begin the import again, but select BOX. (this will not attempt to build the pieces and give them piece names, this will just import an exact duplicate of the file.)
- If this does not work: request help from OptiTex support Team member with any import problems through our online support page or contact the OptiTex office.
Converting Internal Contour Into Seam Allowance
- Clean up non-grade points: Select Pieces / Points Clean Up. (optional, but VERY smart to do, makes file smaller, smoother curves and faster to work)
- Uncheck Auto Reseam and Auto Update Notches under OPTIONS pull down menu. (these can be checked again after you create the Seam allowance)
- Make sure all internal contour (seam) have the sew attribute and are closed contour
- Select ALL pieces; select Seam / Single Sew Internal to Seam
- if this does not work, then you must select 1 internal line; then select Seam / Selected Internal to Seam; and do this for each piece. (There is an icon in the Insert Toolbar called Internal To Seam.
