How to Slash and spread/Add fullness or shirring

1.Go to Darts & Pleats in the Toolbox and select the Slash and Spread to add Fullness Tool How to slash and Spread tool 1.png PDS:Add Fullness Tool.

2.With the Slash and Spread to add Fullness Tool How to slash and Spread tool1b.png, Select the corner point on the hem of the skirt and the diagonal corner point on the waistPDS:Add Fullness Tool.

3.A window will open. In the Counter Clockwise Number Field How to slash and Spread tool 10.png, enter in the desired distance between the selected corner point and the new point. In the example 3 is used.

The angle will automatically correspond to the distance.

Width for Parallel Shift will move both the waist and the hem.

4.Press OK or hit the Enter Key to see your results

5.Repeat steps 1 through 4 with another set of points. In the example the opposite points are used.

6.Now, select the range of points on the inside of the hem, not including the center line or the side seam.

7.Press Enter to view the properties of all the points you have selected. Uncheck the box next to the word Grade, and check the box next to the word Curve.

The skirt will now look like this

When using more points, the Hem may be smoothed with the Smooth Tool How to slash and smooth1.png PDS:Smooth Tool.

8.Now, select the Smooth tool in the Contour Toolbar.

9.Select the hem of the skirt with the Contour Tool.

10.Click on points along the curve to adjust the track line to your desired new hem, right click, and press Set Smooth to even out the curve along the hem.

You can continue to use the smooth tool until satisfied.
