Part 1 - Draw
- Load
the file Eva.mod from C:\Program Files\OptiTex 10\Samples\3D\Models\Female\Parametric
- From Display tools select the Show Advanced Toolbar
- Select the Wireframe display
- From the 3D Flattening toolbar select the Draw Path tool
- Draw a line on the center front of the model and the center back of the model - drag the flattening point while holding Ctrl+Shift to snap to the centers.
- Hide the Wireframe
- Draw a cup made of 2 pieces and and the main piece of the bra. Use minimum amount of pins.
- Fix the lines and points position with the Edit Pins tool
- This is what you should get:
Part 2 - Build
- Select the Build Patch tool
- Click once inside each closed boundary. For troubleshooting click here.
- Select the 3D Baseline tool
- Set the baseline direction parallel to the center front for the main piece and horizontal for the cup pieces.
- Select the 3D Notch tool
- Add notches on the connection points between the cup pieces and the main piece.
- Save the model with the patches.
- This is what you should get:
Part 3 - Flatten
- Select the Flatten All command
- You should be able to see the 2D pattern pieces on the working area (or at least in the Pieces Window
- Select the Tension Map mode

- Click inside the 3D window and press Shift+F to open the Options.
- Toggle between the options to view the different tension maps. The maps compares the 3D surface with the 2D surface.
- This is what you should get:
Part 4 - Edit
- Select the 3 pieces on the working area
- Set the New Baseline command
( Ctrl+/)
- Select the main piece and Rotate CW

- Arrange the cup pieces above the main piece
- This is what you should get:
- Select the cup pieces and set them as pair
- Set the main piece as a half

- Clean the pattern pieces if needed with any of the PDS tools or just by deleting points. You can use the Arc Tool
(A), the Smooth Tool
or the Points Cleanup command (Ctrl+Q).
- This is what you should get:
Part 5 - Place In 3D
- Select Clear Lines
to delete the flattening lines
- Open the 3D Properties window

- Select all the pieces
- Click the Synchronize button
- Select the Ignore Piece option
- Select the main piece
- In the Location drop down select Front
- Set it as Cylinder with 90%
- Un-check the Ignore Piece option just for this piece
- Click the Place Cloth icon
- Repeat the process with the cup pieces.
- This is what you should get:
Part 6 - Stitch
- Select the Stitch Tool
(U)
- Stitch the cup piece together
- Stitch the cup pieces to the main piece
- Set a Symmetric stitch at the center back
- Set a stand-alone stitch over the hem lines
- Select the hem lines stitches with the stitches selection mode
(Shift+U)
- Set Edge Force of 1 for the hem lines
- Refresh the 3D Window
- This is what you should get:
Part 7 - Drape
- Simulate Draping

- Select the piece on the working area and change their 3D:Properties#Resolution|resolution]] to 0.8
- Refresh the 3D Window
and Drape again.
- Turn the Tension Map mode
on
- This is what you should get:
