Part 1 - Draw

  1. Load 3D Load Model 1.png the file Eva.mod from C:\Program Files\OptiTex 10\Samples\3D\Models\Female\Parametric
  2. From Display tools select the Show Advanced Toolbar 3D Show Or Hide Advanced Toolbar 1.png
  3. Select the Wireframe display 3D Advanced Toolbar 20.png
  4. From the 3D Flattening toolbar select the Draw Path tool 3D Draw Path 1.png
  5. Draw a line on the center front of the model and the center back of the model - drag the flattening point while holding Ctrl+Shift to snap to the centers.
  6. Hide the Wireframe 3D Advanced Toolbar 20.png
  7. Draw a cup made of 2 pieces and and the main piece of the bra. Use minimum amount of pins.
  8. Fix the lines and points position with the Edit Pins tool 3D Edit Pins 1.png
  9. This is what you should get:

Part 2 - Build

  1. Select the Build Patch tool 3D Build Patch 1.png
  2. Click once inside each closed boundary. For troubleshooting click here.
  3. Select the 3D Baseline tool 3D Baseline 1.png
  4. Set the baseline direction parallel to the center front for the main piece and horizontal for the cup pieces.
  5. Select the 3D Notch tool 3D Notch 1.png
  6. Add notches on the connection points between the cup pieces and the main piece.
  7. Save the model with the patches.
  8. This is what you should get:

Part 3 - Flatten

  1. Select the Flatten All command 3D Flatten All 1.png
  2. You should be able to see the 2D pattern pieces on the working area (or at least in the Pieces Window
  3. Select the Tension Map mode 3D Tension Map 1.png.
  4. Click inside the 3D window and press Shift+F to open the Options.
  5. Toggle between the options to view the different tension maps. The maps compares the 3D surface with the 2D surface.
  6. This is what you should get:

Part 4 - Edit

  1. Select the 3 pieces on the working area
  2. Set the New Baseline command PDS New Baseline 1.png ( Ctrl+/)
  3. Select the main piece and Rotate CW PDS Rotate Clockwise 1.png (])
  4. Arrange the cup pieces above the main piece
  5. This is what you should get:

  6. Select the cup pieces and set them as pair
  7. Set the main piece as a half PDS Set Half Tool 1.png (H)
  8. Clean the pattern pieces if needed with any of the PDS tools or just by deleting points. You can use the Arc Tool PDS Arc Tool 1.png (A), the Smooth Tool PDS Smooth Tool 1.png or the Points Cleanup command (Ctrl+Q).
  9. This is what you should get:

Part 5 - Place In 3D

  1. Select Clear Lines 3D Clear Lines 1.png to delete the flattening lines
  2. Open the 3D Properties window 3D Properties 1.1.png (7)
  3. Select all the pieces
  4. Click the Synchronize button
  5. Select the Ignore Piece option
  6. Select the main piece
  7. In the Location drop down select Front
  8. Set it as Cylinder with 90%
  9. Un-check the Ignore Piece option just for this piece
  10. Click the Place Cloth icon 3D Place Cloth 1.png
  11. Repeat the process with the cup pieces.
  12. This is what you should get:

Part 6 - Stitch

  1. Select the Stitch Tool 3D Stitch Tool 1.png (U)
  2. Stitch the cup piece together
  3. Stitch the cup pieces to the main piece
  4. Set a Symmetric stitch at the center back
  5. Set a stand-alone stitch over the hem lines
  6. Select the hem lines stitches with the stitches selection mode 3D Show Stitch Mode 1.png (Shift+U)
  7. Set Edge Force of 1 for the hem lines
  8. Refresh the 3D Window 3D Refresh Cloth 1.png
  9. This is what you should get:

Part 7 - Drape

  1. Simulate Draping 3D Simulate Draping 1.png (')
  2. Select the piece on the working area and change their 3D:Properties#Resolution|resolution]] to 0.8
  3. Refresh the 3D Window 3D Refresh Cloth 1.png and Drape again.
  4. Turn the Tension Map mode 3D Tension Map 1.png on
  5. This is what you should get:
Resolution = 1
Resolution = 0.8
