The 3D Digitizer set of tools is a mode in which the design process is done on the 3D sewn product.
We use the 3D Digitizer to alter a neck line, mark an excess of fabric or simply add buttons or notches.

Part 1 - Drape

  1. Select the Load Model 3D Load Model 1.png command.
  2. Browse to your model directory (C:\Program Files\OptiTex 11\Samples\3DContent\Mannequins\Parametric\Female\Adult\Eva)
  3. Select the the file PFA_Eva.mod and click Open
  4. Download a sample dress style, stitched and ready to drape from here and open it PDS Open file 1.png (Ctrl+O) in PDS.
  5. Simulate the dress over the 3D mannequin
  6. This is what you should get:

Part 2 - Edit

In this section we will alter the shape the neck line.

  1. From the 3D Toolbar select the 3D Digitizer mode 3D Digitizer 1.png
  2. When in the 3D Digitizer mode there are 4 tools available for 3D use:
    1. Draft tool (D)
    2. Add Notch tool (N)
    3. Add Button tool (B)
    4. Build Zone tool (Z)
    • The tools' behavior in 3D is similar to that of the 2D with some necessary changes
  3. Click D or select the Draft tool from the toolbar or the Toolbox.
  4. Draw a V neck line, starting from one shoulder over to the center front and back up to the other shoulder
    1. For a curve point hold the Shift key
    2. To delete last created point hit Delete
    3. To rotate while drawing hold the Ctrl key
  5. When finished with the neckline right-click and select Exit Draft Tool Tutorials 3D Digitizers 3.png
  6. When the Pop-Up jumps hit Cancel (Exit mode without saving changes to 2D - keep changes to 3D) Tutorials 3D Digitizers 5.png
  7. This is what you should get:

  8. Click Z or select the Build Zone tool PDS Build Zone Tool 1.png
  9. Shift+click inside the area of the new neck line
  10. Right click and select Hide this area (Create a transparent zone) Tutorials 3D Digitizers 6.png
  11. This is what you should get:

Part 3 - Apply to 2D

  1. Click D or select the Draft tool from the toolbar or the Toolbox.
  2. Right click and select Apply to 2D
  3. Use the Swap Segments tool PDS Swap Segment Tool 1.png to switch between the old neckline and the new neck line.
  4. This is what you should get:
New neckline as internal
New neckline as external

Part 4 - Drape Again

  1. Refresh 3D Refresh Cloth 1.png the 3D window
  2. Simulate the dress
  3. This is what you should get:
    New Neckline applied to the pattern and draped
