This tool is usually used for creating collars, when a waved shape is needed.

Operation

  1. Invokethe Wave tool.
  2. Click on the first and last point.
  3. move the mouse to see the curve preview.
  4. Click for the 3rd time.
  5. Change the settings in the Wave dialog and perss Ok.

Common Usage Example

1. Original piece, from which a collar will be created
2. Click on the first and last point
3. Set the proper wave curve
4. The piece was reshaped
5. Use Trace Segments Tool to create the collar piece

Waves

Set the numbers of waves. Every wave or half-wave is constrained by two grading points.

9. 1/2 + 1 + 1 + 1/2 = 3 waves

Internal Points On Wave

10. Internal points on wave = 6

Height

11. Height = 5cm

Angle

12. Angle = 0 degrees
13. Angle = 60 degrees

New Wave/ Contour Change

Determine if the arc will be created as an internal contour, or will it reshape the selected segment. This option is enabled when the first and last points selected, are points that already exist on the segment.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Alt (on the 1st and 2nd click)– open 'Move point' dialog (In case it is disabled in the preferences).
  • Alt (on the 3rd click) – open the 'Create arc dialog' (In case it is disabled in the preferences).
  • Ctrl (before the 1st and 2nd clicks) – Disregard the snap definition

  • Shift – Allow shifting the waves, by freeing the third click restriction to the middle of the wave.

  • Tab – increase the number of waves.

  • Shift+ Tab – decrease waves.
