PDS:Trace Segments Tool

Use the Trace Segments tool to create a new piece from the segments of an existing piece or of several pieces.
Note: After creating a new piece you should Move it away from the original piece, so that it does not overlap and cause confusion.

Operation
- Invoke the Trace Segments tool.
- Click in the middle of a segment (on the line between two Grading Points).
- Trace in a clockwise direction.
- When tracing is completed a dialog is displayed. Click Yes.
- Or, manually Finish the tracing.
Trace A Contour And Internal Contour Of A Single Piece

Trace A Contour And An Internal Contour Which Are Not Connected
If the internal contour is not Extended Up To The Contour, the traced segment will be automatically extrapolated.
Manual Finish Tracing
Occasionally, the system does not detect that the tracing is finished. It should then be finished manually.

The Trace Segments tool can trace segments from pieces which are not intersecting.
Troubleshooting
- The traced segment is not equal to the piece's segment
- Use Add Spline Support Points to trace the segment more accurately.
- Status bar error message - contour with only one grade point can't be traced
- Add another Grading Point to the contour.
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Delete – deletes the last traced segment.
