PDS:Move Point Tool

This tool is the most basic tool of moving a internal /contour point. It is used in almost every style.

Operation

  1. Invoke the 'Move Point Tool'.
  2. Select a point.
  3. Move by the desired amount.

Moving a Contour Point

1. Click on a contour point and move it to the desired place
2. The point is moved. Note, that in this example the non-grading point are visible (through the View & Selection)

3. Click on a point and move it. Notice that this time non-grading point are invisible (through the View & Selection)
4. As shown, The movement occurred from one grading point to another. This is actually the same as using Move Points Proportionally

Adding a Point by Moving a Segment

5. The segment of the sleeve has no points on it
6. When clicking on the segment a point is added and immediately can be moved

8. Note, that in if the non-grading point are invisible the new point that was added (a non-grading one) is also invisible

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Alt – open the Move Point Dialog (In case it is disabled in the preferences).
  • Ctrl – Disregard the snap definition (Won't add a new point, will only let you move existing point).
  • Shift – While clicking on a segment the new added point is set to curve.

  • Shift + Back Space: Allows you to switch selection between an "external on internal" or "internal on internal" point (when not connected).
  • . (Period) – Restrain the cursor movement to the X axis (press ESC to exit this mode).
  • .(Period) + Shift - Restrain the cursor movement to the Y axis (press ESC to exit this mode).
