PDS:Move Piece Tool

This tool is used to move pattern pieces around on the Working Area, or to place a piece exactly on or next to others.

Icon & Location

• 
  (Space bar key)
  
• Toolbar: Edit
• Toolbox: Movement

Operation

1. Invoke the Move Piece tool.
2. Click on the pattern piece to be moved. The piece is now attached to the mouse and can be moved in any direction.
3. Move the piece to the desired location.
4. Click mouse button a second time to anchor the piece at the new location.

Common Usage Example

1. Select a piece

2. Move it aside. The moving piece is marked with a color

3. The piece was moved

Move Piece From Point To Point

4. The cursor is located over the marked point

5. 'Space bar' key was pressed, thus the piece is moved, with the point underneath acting as a handle

6. The piece is moved until snapped to a point on another piece

Keyboard Shortcuts

• . (Period) – Restrain the cursor movement to the X axis (press ESC to exit this mode).
• .(Period) + Shift - Restrain the cursor movement to the Y axis (press ESC to exit this mode).
