PDS:Extend Contour As Curve

Use the Extend Contour As Curve tool to extend a curved contour by automatically calculating its prolongation. This tool can be used to prolong the armscye.

Operation

  1. Select a contour.
  2. Invoke the Extend Contour As Curve tool. A dialog is displayed.
  3. In the dialog, enter the value, type and direction of the extension.
  4. Click OK.

Common Usage Example

1. Original jacket front side piece
2. Select the armhole contour with the Select Tool
3. Armhole is selected

4. Extend the contour by 4cm in a counter-clockwise direction

5. Before clicking OK, a preview is displayed
6. An internal contour is created
7. Using the Swap Segment Tool the new internal contour becomes the contour...
8. ...and the armhole is extended

Dialog Explanation

Points

Indicates the number of points on the selected contour (grading and non-grading).

Length

Indicates the length of the selected contour on the different sizes.

Extend By

Sets the extension amount.

Extension Direction

Sets the extension direction – clockwise or counter-clockwise.

New Contour

This option is enabled only when an internal contour is selected. It determines if the selected contour should be extended, or a new internal contour is created on top of the selected one.

Extension Of Contour Only

Determines if the new internal contour should include also the original contour, or only the prolonged section.
