Operation

  1. Select the Dart tool.
  2. Click on the contour (Alt to open Point Attributes window) to set first dart point.
  3. 2nd click on the contour to set 2nd dart point
  4. 3rd click to set the dart tip.

Common Usage Example

1. Pants back piece, with darts placement marked
2. Select the 'Dart Tool'
3. Click on the 1st…
4. ...2nd point
5. ...and on the dart tip
6. After the dart was created delete the internal contour that marked the dart's center
7. Do the same for the second dart
8. Both darts were created
9. Again, using the 'Dart Tool' click on the shorter dart, in order to shift it
10. Click on the point were it should be shifted

11. Move the section of the piece highlighted, in order to open the new dart
12. The new dart was shifted
13. If needed - delete the original dart


Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Alt – open the Dart Properties pane (In case it is disabled in the preferences).
  • Ctrl (before the first and second clicks) – Disregard the Snap definition
  • Shift (before the first click) – Add Fullness Tool before creating a dart. The second click should be on the contour where the should be opened, or a pivot point be created (make sure not to click the second click on the same contour line)
14. Fullness is opened
15. And then a dart will be added


  • Shift (before the third click) – allows moving the dart tip freely.

Note: the 'Fix Dart' dialog will not open automatically, but when the dart will be edited for the first time, it will open.

Troubleshooting

Can't add a dart on the contour line (after clicking the first click, nothing happens)
Enable the Snap To Segment.
