PDS:Build Zone Tool

Use the Build Zone tool to create Zones. This tool is similar to the Build Piece Tool. However, instead of creating a piece, it defines a zone (which can then be Created and Corrected).

Advantages in comparison to the Trace Zone Tool

• Works faster – fewer clicks are needed in order to select the desired area.

Disadvantages in comparison to the Trace Zone Tool

• The Build Zone tool does not always select the desired area. Certain actions can be taken to improve its functionality.
• When building a piece with intersecting internals some grading points that were not on the original pieces may be added, at the precise point of the Intersection.

Operation

1. Invoke the Build Zone tool.
2. Click on the areas required to create the zone.
3. When the zone is created, it can be changed through the Piece Properties.

1. The original back piece, which should become a map

2. Build the first zone – the Back Yoke. Click inside the area...

3. ...the selected area is Highlighted. Click again to create the zone

4. The created zone name appears

5. Continue defining zones

6. Create Pieces From Map

7. The pieces are Moved aside. On the right – the map; On the left – the piece from the Map

Keyboard Shortcuts

• Shift – deselects a selected area.

8. An area is selected by mistake

9. The area was re-selected with the shift key, and is thus deselected
