Using OCC spooler in a network neighborhood

Create a Local Queue: OCC network plotting is different form Outman network plotting, OCC spooler use different ini file for each working system while Outman spooler use only one ini file (on the local computer), which is using all the remotes working stations.

The next process is described how to connect OCC spooler to work on a network:
1. Create a local machine queue (on the computer that is connected to the machine).
• From OptiTex PDS or Marker go to plot dialog box (when there are pieces on the working area).
• In plot dialog box select “Use Output Manager” check box and “OCC” radio button.
• Now use “Select” button under “Output Manager Service” section.
• From the main OCC wizard dialog box (“Plotter Setup” dialog) choose “Add” button.
• From “Add Plotter” page select “My computer” and Next.
• From the “Communication Setting” page select the correct parameters and choose Next button.

OCC spooler support five different communication protocol types:
1. Standard protocol, which is RS232 protocol.
2. Gerber protocol, which is Gerber ACCUPLOT protocol.
3. Lectra protocol, which is Lectra E32 & E33 machines protocol.
4. OptiJet protocol, which is OptiJet printer protocol.
5. Lectra Flypen protocol, which is Lectra Flypen plotter protocol.

• From “Local Plotter Setting” page choose “Shared Plotter” check box and then choose “Finish” button.
Note: OCC wizard dialog box support automatic sharing when the “Shared Plotter” check box is checked only when the operating system is NT, 2000 or XP.
If the operating system is windows 98 or Windows 95 the sharing need to be done manually (regarding to manually sharing issue see paragraph 2)!!!

2. Make the plotting queue share to other computers. The sharing type should by full with write permission!!!
The queue sharing is a crucial issue for OCC network plotting!!!

This section of this document is referred only in case when a manually sharing need to be done (Windows 98 for example)!!
Explanation:
OCC is using different method comparing to Outman, in order to make OCC queue share to other users/computers you need to share two different directories:
One directory is OCC directory - Computer partition (for example: C):\OptiTex 8.XX\App\OCC) to enable an access to OCC.ini file.
Second directory is added when add a new plotter queue. This new directory is a sub directory to the Queue directory – When you create a new plotter queue, a new folder will be added under “Queue“ directory this new directory mast be shared!!!
See OCC folders structure:

1.

The new queue directory (that is a sub directory to “Queue” directory) name is given in the “Local Plotter Setting page” under “Plotter Name” section. (See the picture)

2.

In this case the new folder will be: C:\Program Files\OptiTex 8.75\App\OCC\Queue\Ziv. Create a Remote Queue: After you finished defined and shared the local queue, you can start create a remote queue on a remote working station. 1. From OptiTex PDS or Marker go to plot dialog box (when there are pieces on the working area). 2. In plot dialog box select “Use Output Manager” check box and “OCC” radio button. 3. Now use “Select” button under “Output Manager Service” section. 4. From the main OCC wizard dialog box (“Plotter Setup” dialog) choose “Add” button. 5. From “Add Plotter” page select “Net work plotter” and Next. 6. From “Net Work Plotter” page selects the correct plotter queue by double clicking on the “Entire Network” computer. From the list computer select the local computer name and double clicking on the computer icon. (See the picture)

3.

7. Now select the correct queue and then use Finish button.

Troubleshooting: If you double click on the locale computer icon and nothing happened and you are sure that you shared the right folder please follow the next steps: 1. Minimize your OptiTex windows and go to windows explorer and try to access to the local computer. If you don’t succeed to access to the local computer this mean that your computer or the user name that you login to network can’t access the local computer. If this is the case, please ask your system administrator solve the problem. 2. You are working on windows 2000 or XP or NT and you choose “Share Queue” check box but OCC folder isn’t shared. This can happened if OptiTex software was already installed on your computer in the past and the operating system already used “OCC” shared name. In that case you should share the correct OCC folder manually. 3. You are able to access the local computer folder but you are not able to plot? Check that type or the your user login permission in the local computer!! Remember in order to plot from a remote station you need write permission in the local computer!!!
