How to calibrate the Zoom Real Scale Tool

Symptom

By default the value of this tool is set to 1. This may lead to the scale being off. To check this use the Zoom Real Scale Tool on a 10x10 cm square and measure it on screen with a ruler. If it is not the correct size follow the steps below.

Solution

1. Create a 10x10 cm square in PDS.
2. Use the Zoom Real Scale Tool on the square.
3. Measure the square on your screen using a ruler.
4. Take the measured value to get the correct ratio

10cm/Measured value cm = ratio

Version 10.4 and 11 handle this differently. Follow the steps for the version you are using.

Create or edit the following parameter in the ini file.

[OptiTex pds 10]
ZoomRealScaleCalibrationValue=1.05  for example

V 11

Enter the ratio value in preferences.

Preferences->Display->Calibration value for Zoom in real scale
