Description

OptiTex 11 settings and preferences can be saved for backup or applied to another workstation. During the installation process, a default user interface and hardware settings are copied to the computer. These settings can be replaced with settings saved within a backup file from another computer.

Note that multiple Aladdin network keys cannot be used on a same computer, even if they are for different applications or modules. 
They must be attached to different computers with separate License Managers running.

Symptom

All view and menu placement settings are lost, toolbars are back to their default positions, the plotter/cutter setup settings are incorrect, digitizer settings are reset to defaults and the digitizer won't work.

Solution

Warning

!!! Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to re-install Windows to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk !!!

Configuration Files

Configuration File stores the preferences, drop down list values and general settings.

Files Included

  • OptiTex11.ini (includes: hardware settings and program preferences)
  • .CBI files - Includes all current drop down lists such as piece names, materials , etc.
  • MarkerDef10.mdf file - Includes tables list
  • .SER files - Cutting Tools settings


Location

Learn how to find the INI file automatically

Windows XP On Public Installations:

C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Application Data\OptiTex\
or
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OptiTex\

On Private Installations:

C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\OptiTex\

Windows Vista

C:\ProgramData\OptiTex\
In some rare cases the ini may be in this location C:\Users\main user\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\OptiTex

For Windows 7 C:\ProgramData\OptiTex\

In order to see those folders you need to turn visible hidden folder under Windows Explorer >> Folder Options >> View

Registry Settings

  • Saving OptiTex Registry entries (Includes the customized screen layout, 3D models, toolbars, toolbox and hot keys)
  1. Close all OptiTex software
  2. From the Start menu select the Run command.
  3. Type in "regedit" and press [Enter]. The registry editor will open.
  4. Go to File - Export. Under Export Range at the bottom of the window, click the option for Selected Branch and enter HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OptiTex.
  5. In the file name field enter "optitex" and save the file to your desktop, a network drive or to a flash drive.
  6. Go to File - Export. Under Export Range at the bottom of the window, click the option for Selected Branch and enter HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OptiTex PDS 11\pds11.
  7. In the file name field enter "pds10" and save the file to your desktop, a network drive or to a flash drive.
  8. Go to File - Export. Under Export Range at the bottom of the window, click the option for Selected Branch and enter HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OptiTex Mark 11\mark11.
  9. In the file name field enter "marker10" and save the file to your desktop, a network drive or to a flash drive.


Plotter/Cutter Settings

  • If you are using an Output manger copy OCC.ini from C:\Program Files\OptiTex 11\App\Occ folder and outman.ini from C:\Program Files\OptiTex 11\App to your desktop, a network drive or to a flash drive.
