Glossary:Zone

Zones are a new approach for working on patterns. Since altering a pattern and correcting it, is a common thing, it would be a smart thing to define every part on a master pattern or a Map as a zone. When the Map changes, the pieces created from it, are changed automatically. For Maps with only two or three pieces, that might look as obsolete (although it is very handy using Zones also on un-complicated patterns), but on 'complicated' patterns the Zones can be a real time saver.

The geometry is copied from the Map to the pieces created from it, that includes the Contour, Internal contour, baseline, grain line, notches, and grading. It does not include the seam and properties such as quantity, material etc'.

Note: If a pattern is intended to be considerably changed, then do not use the Zone. Use it when you know that only minor changed should be applied, such as correcting grading, adding notches, moving internal contour lines and adjusting the side seams.

1. The piece on the right is the Map piece, with all the zones defined. The other pieces are those which were created from it
