  • Use the Tension Map options to inspect simulated cloth objects as a colored map depicting amounts of stretching, tension and distance between the cloth and the model.
  • Depict not only Tension but also Tension U, Tension V, Stretch and Distance between the cloth and the model.
  • Closely examine areas of the cloth and view the exact value of Tension /Distance /Stretch found over these areas.
  • Determine the scope of values that interest you.
  • Arrange the spectrum as needed.

2. Color Map Display

  1. Color Display Bar. The range of colors represents the scope of values. Red and Blue will always appear, which means that a red color doesn't necessarily mean the cloth is very tense.
  2. The Value of Interest alongside its position on the spectrum.
  3. The highest value in the scope alongside its position on the spectrum.
  4. The lowest value in the scope alongside its position on the spectrum.
  5. Map Inspection Tool.
  6. The value indicated by the Map Inspection Tool, changes according to the position of the tool on the map.

Operation

  1. Click on the black arrow next to the Simulation Properties icon in the 3D toolbar. This will invoke a drop down list of the display functions. Select the 'Tension Map' from that list.
  2. The display changes as mentioned above.
  3. Double-click the Color Display Bar to invoke the Cloth Color Map Options Dialog from which you can select the type of map you wish to inspect.
  4. The scope of values (minimum to maximum) is automatically set. To change the scope see Cloth Color Map Options Dialog below. To reset the scope back to automatic values Shift+click the Color Display Bar.
  5. Move the Map Inspection Tool over the cloth to depict specific area's values.
  6. To rotate the model or navigate in the 3D world hold the Ctrl key.
  7. To exit the Maps mode right-click anywhere in the 3D world.

Color Map Type

  • Distance (cm): Measure the distance between the Cloth and the Model. Notice that the Distance option include the Collision tolerance in its measures.
4. Distance Map

  • Tension UV (fg/cm): Measure the amount of physical tension influencing the cloth.
5. Tension UV Map

  • Tension U (fg/cm): Measure the amount of physical tension influencing the cloth in the warp direction.
6. Tension U Map

  • Tension V (fg/cm): Measure the amount of physical tension influencing the cloth in the weft direction.
7. Tension V Map

  • Stretch U (%) : Measure the amount of the fabrics' expansion along the warp direction (meaning, how much the cloth stretched along the warp).
8. Stretch U Map

  • Stretch V (%) : Measure the amount of the fabrics' expansion along the woof direction (meaning, how much the cloth stretched along the weft).
9. Stretch V Map

Range

The range is set automatically according to the highest and lowest levels found in the inspected garment. The Range fields can be set manually to enable smaller or wider scope.

  • Maximum Value : By default, shows the highest value of distance, tension or stretch found in the garment.
  • Value of Interest : Enables the user to determine the value that will be highlighted in green.
  • Minimum Value : By default, shows the lowest value of distance, tension or stretch found in the garment.
