3D:Flattening Options
From OptiTexHelpEn
The Flattening Tools Options window has several functionalities:
- Flattening Toolbox with extended options, for example to change Notch types
- Flattening Parameters - control the fabric parameters to influence the flattening result
- Flattening View and Selection

Manual Flattening
Notes: * Baseline has to be defined for each piece, in order to have the manual flattening values processed. * A slight deviation of lengths between pieces can occur in 2D, when the flattening algorithm is processed from 3D. (This can be due to various factors like position of baseline, mesh depth...) * Stretch and Shear values correspond to the cloth parameters desired.
X & Y
- The resistance to Stretch values you wish to affect the pattern retrieved by the flattening algorithm. The Flattening algorithm uses the relation between the stretch on X and Y direction to manipulate the flattened piece.
- The following example shows the way in which the pattern changes according to the stretch values. Notice that when the resistance to stretch is higher on the X direction, the piece tries to maintain the full length of the X and is compensating by "shrinking" the Y, and vice versa.
Sh
- The resistance of the cloth to Shearing forces. Shearing forces influence is on the diagonal direction of the fiber/cloth or in other words, the parameter affect the gliding quality versus stiffness of a fabric that's cut on the bias.
- High value means high resistance to shearing force and thus - less softness.
- Low value means low resistance to shearing forces and thus - more softness and more accentuated body features.
